Amazon Neptune is a purpose-built, high-performance graph database engine optimized for storing billions of relationships and querying graphs with millisecond latency. It supports popular graph models like Property Graph and W3C's RDF, enabling flexible querying via languages like Apache TinkerPop Gremlin, openCypher, and SPARQL. As a fully managed AWS service, Neptune automates time-consuming tasks such as hardware provisioning, software patching, setup, configuration, and backups. It features a distributed, fault-tolerant storage system that automatically scales up to 128 TiB per database cluster, ensures high availability with up to 15 low-latency read replicas, and provides robust enterprise security features like encryption at rest and in transit.
